CSIR NET Exam 2024: Notification, Exam Dates, Application Form, Syllabus, Result

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the CSIR NET exam to verify eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships and lectures. This test is conducted twice a year in June and December. The CSIR NET Report for June 2024 will be published in February 2024. The examination covers subjects like Chemical Science, Earth, Atmosphere, Marine Planetary Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science and Physical Science


The results of CSIR NET exam to be held in December 2023 will be released soon, along with the cut-off marks on the official website. The exam was conducted from December 26 to 28, 2023. The provisional CSIR NET Answer Key was released by NTA on February 06 and candidates can object till February 08, 2024.

The institute conducting the CSIR NET exam will release the application form and official notification on the official website. Candidates can fill the application form by following the below mentioned steps.


Steps to apply for CSIR NET online:


  1. Visit the official website - csirnet.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on the link "Fill online CSIR NET Application Form 2024" on the homepage.
  3. Select the "Register New" option for new applicants.
  4. On the new page, check the box and then click "Click Here to Continue."
  5. Fill your personal details in the CSIR NET application form.
  6. See the research papers and declarations provided. Click Final Submit.
  7. Click Yes in the displayed dialog box to confirm Registration.
  8. The application number is generated and will be displayed on the screen.
  9. Click on the "Complete Application" option.
  10. Verify your mobile number and email address.
  11. In the new tab, enter the important details like post applied for, center choice, subject choice.
  12. Enter the security key and click the Submit button.
  13. Once you have submitted the final document, upload the scanned signature and photograph in the prescribed format.
  14. Application fees must be paid prior to final submission.
  15. Take two or three printouts from the acceptance form, save and take with you.

CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2024

The CSIR NET eligibility criteria for the year 2024 will be determined in the official notification of the National Examinations Council. This will include age, nationality and educational qualifications. CSIR NET Nationality: Candidates should be permanent citizens of India. CSIR NET Age: The minimum age to apply is 28 years. The relaxation age applies to all categories except those who wish to play in different categories. There is no age limit for speaking position.

CSIR NET Educational Qualification:

  1. Eligible candidates have a four-year BS programme, BE/B.Tech/B.Pharma/Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/BSc (Hons)/M.Sc, or equivalent degree.
  2. Students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program or Equivalent degree/B.Sc (Hons) are also eligible to apply.
  3. General & OBC-NCL candidates (50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates) must complete the qualifying examination with at least 55% marks.
  4. M.Sc. or those who have just completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are eligible under Result Awaited (RA) category.
  5. However, the eligible degree must be completed with the required percentage of marks within two years to benefit from their participation.
  6. Candidates with a degree in science, engineering, or any other discipline are eligible for a Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. The project is within 2 years of the allocation.
