About CSIR NET Examination

The CSIR UGC NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – National Eligibility Test) is a national-level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of CSIR. The examination determines the eligibility of candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges.

Steps to apply for CSIR NET online:


  1. Visit the official website - csirnet.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on the link "Fill online CSIR NET Application Form 2026" on the homepage.
  3. Select the "Register New" option for new applicants.
  4. On the new page, check the box and then click "Click Here to Continue."
  5. Fill your personal details in the CSIR NET application form.
  6. See the research papers and declarations provided. Click Final Submit.
  7. Click Yes in the displayed dialog box to confirm Registration.
  8. The application number is generated and will be displayed on the screen.

CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The CSIR NET eligibility criteria for the year 2026 will be determined in the official notification of the National Examinations Council. This will include age, nationality and educational qualifications. CSIR NET Nationality: Candidates should be permanent citizens of India. CSIR NET Age: The minimum age to apply is 28 years. The relaxation age applies to all categories except those who wish to play in different categories. There is no age limit for speaking position.

CSIR NET Educational Qualification:

  1. Eligible candidates have a four-year BS programme, BE/B.Tech/B.Pharma/Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/BSc (Hons)/M.Sc, or equivalent degree.
  2. Students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program or Equivalent degree/B.Sc (Hons) are also eligible to apply.
  3. General & OBC-NCL candidates (50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates) must complete the qualifying examination with at least 55% marks.
  4. M.Sc. or those who have just completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are eligible under Result Awaited (RA) category.
  5. However, the eligible degree must be completed with the required percentage of marks within two years to benefit from their participation.
  6. Candidates with a degree in science, engineering, or any other discipline are eligible for a Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. The project is within 2 years of the allocation.
