Ideally, preparation should begin 12–18 months before the exam. If you are starting now, focus first on building concepts in major subjects such as Pathology, Pharmacology, and Medicine. Once concepts are clear, move to revision and MCQ practice. The key to success is multiple revisions, not just an early start.
No, coaching classes are not mandatory. Many students clear NEET PG through self-study by using one standard review book per subject, practicing previous year questions, and taking regular mock tests. Coaching can provide structure and discipline, but consistent revision and MCQ practice are far more important.
A minimum of 3–4 solid revisions is required to score well.

1st Revision: Concept building and understanding basics.
2nd Revision: MCQ-oriented study and strengthening weak areas.
3rd & 4th Revisions: Rapid revision focusing on high-yield facts and mistakes.

Most toppers attribute their rank to the quality of revision, not the number of books studied.
