Chemistry
syllabus is divided into four major sections covering all core
concepts of Chemistry. Candidates are advised to prepare all
topics
thoroughly as IIT JAM does not prescribe any official topic-wise
weightage.
IIT JAM Chemistry Syllabus 2026 includes:
1. Basic Mathematical Concepts (10+2 Level)
Functions, maxima and minima, integrals, ordinary differential
equations, vectors and matrices, determinants, and elementary
statistics.
2. Physical Chemistry
Atomic and molecular structure, gaseous state, liquid state,
solid
state, chemical thermodynamics, chemical and phase equilibria,
electrochemistry, spectroscopy, chemical kinetics, and surface
chemistry.
3. Organic Chemistry
Basic concepts and stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms,
qualitative
organic analysis, natural products chemistry, heterocyclic
chemistry,
and chemistry of reactive intermediates.
4. Inorganic Chemistry
Periodic table, main group elements (s and p block), transition
elements, chemical bonding, coordination compounds, bioinorganic
chemistry, and analytical chemistry.
